About Peder Oxe

The Nordic and French inspired restaurant opened in December 1975 on the beautiful Gråbrødretorv.

We worked with the Danish designer Niels Prahm in creating the welcoming interior of the restaurant. The decor is light and Scandinavian with a selection of classic art pieces and decorations contributing to the romantic atmosphere in Peder Oxe.

In the fall and winter months the open fireplace is lit and in the spring and summer months, you can enjoy the ambiance on the patio with a view of the historic and colourful buildings on the square.

Every day we offer a selection of starters, main courses, cheeses and desserts and at lunchtime it is also possible to choose our freshly made 'smørrebrød', open sandwiches. The menu is adjusted according to the seasonal offerings of fresh produce. It is inspired by the Nordic and French cuisines with a special focus on premium steaks. You can also select seasonal greens and homemade salad dressings from our salad buffet – the first of its kind in Scandinavia.

On our wine menu we seek to provide you with a wide selection of wines. We offer wines from the well-known and the lesser known wine districts of the classic wine making countries in Europe, as well as a selection of wines from the rest of the world.

Peder Oxe is a dynamic restaurant which offers you the possibility of setting the pace of your visit. You can help yourself to the salad buffet, you can quickly come in contact with our waitresses by switching on the little light above your table and you can pay at our reception when you are ready. At Peder Oxe you are just as welcome whether you choose a small lunch with a cup of tea or a menu.
